GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT SIMPLE EXTRACTION
A simple tooth extraction is a routine dental procedure used to remove a tooth that can be safely accessed and removed without surgery. It may be recommended when a tooth is severely damaged, decayed, loose, or cannot be restored with other dental treatments.
At Carling Dental, we always assess whether your natural tooth can be saved before recommending an extraction. Depending on the condition of the tooth, treatments such as a filling, dental crown or root canal treatment may be considered as alternatives. During a simple extraction, the area around the tooth is numbed with local anaesthetic. The dentist gently loosens the tooth before carefully removing it from the socket. The procedure is generally straightforward and you can usually return home shortly afterwards.

CAN I BRUSH MY TEETH AFTER EXTRACTION?
Yes, you should continue to maintain good oral hygiene, but take care around the extraction site and follow your dentist’s instructions about brushing and rinsing.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE TOOTH IS REMOVED?
