Professional dental hygiene treatment helps remove plaque, tartar, dental biofilm and surface staining that regular brushing and flossing cannot completely remove. Regular hygiene appointments are an important part of maintaining healthy teeth and gums, preventing gum problems and keeping your smile feeling clean and fresh.
At Carling Dental, we use EMS AIRFLOW® technology as part of our professional hygiene treatment. EMS AIRFLOW® uses a controlled combination of air, warm water and fine powder to gently remove dental biofilm and surface stains from the teeth and around the gum line. It can be particularly helpful for cleaning areas that are difficult to reach with everyday brushing, including around orthodontic braces, dental implants, crowns and bridges. Your appointment begins with an assessment of your teeth and gums to identify areas where plaque, biofilm, tartar or staining has accumulated. Your hygienist will then use EMS AIRFLOW® and, where required, additional professional instruments to thoroughly clean your teeth.

IS EMS AIRFLOW® BETTER THAN TRADITIONAL DENTAL CLEANING?
EMS Airflow® and traditional scaling instruments can work together rather than being alternatives. EMS technology is particularly useful for biofilm and stain removal, while ultrasonic or hand instruments may be needed to remove hardened tartar.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE HYGIENE TREATMENT?
The ideal frequency depends on your oral health, plaque build-up, gum condition and individual risk factors. Your hygienist will recommend an appropriate maintenance schedule.
WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER MY HYGIENE TREATMENT?
Continue brushing twice daily and cleaning between your teeth every day. Your hygienist can recommend the most suitable interdental brushes, floss or other cleaning aids for your individual needs.
